HKZ Care and Welfare
One HKZ Standard for the entire health and welfare sector
HKZ Care and Welfare is the quality standard for organizations in the health and welfare sector, developed by HKZ (Harmonization of Quality Assessment in Healthcare). With this certification, you demonstrate that your services meet the highest quality standards and that you are committed to continuous improvement. Changes in laws and regulations may affect your care offering. With an HKZ certificate, you show that you are working on structural quality improvements and meet the required standards.
Who is HKZ Care and Welfare for?
- All organizations in the health and welfare sector (from 10 FTE), such as nursing homes, hospitals, home care institutions, and mental health care providers.
- Welfare organizations, such as social work, youth care, day care services, and other social services.
- Organizations operating across multiple sectors, such as mental health and disability care offering both healthcare and welfare services.

Certification process at DEKRA
2. Quotation request, proposal & order confirmation – Transparent agreements and planning.
3. Audit planning – Preparation for the certification audit.
4. Initial certification audit (phase 1 and 2) – Evaluation of your organization based on the HKZ Care and Welfare standard.
5. Processing, reporting & review – Review of the audit report and audit results (four-eyes principle).
6. Certificate – Upon successful completion, you receive your certificate, valid for three years.
7. Follow-up audits – Annual inspections to maintain quality.
