ISCC certificate
Proving sustainability through the ISCC certificate
Are the raw materials and materials your organization uses sustainable? And are they fully traceable? If so, obtaining an ISCC certificate is an effective way to demonstrate this. ISCC stands for International Sustainability & Carbon Certification. As an independent party, DEKRA verifies whether your organization qualifies for the ISCC certificate or other sustainability-related certifications.
What is the ISCC certificate?
ISCC is the international standard for the sustainable production of biomass, biofuels, and other renewable raw materials. It is a key scheme within international sustainability & carbon certification. The ISCC certificate applies to companies that trade or process sustainable raw materials within their supply chain.
Who is ISCC relevant for?
ISCC certification is relevant for organizations in sectors such as agriculture, food, animal feed, chemicals, biofuels, and packaging. Companies that produce or supply sustainable biofuels within the EU are required to obtain an ISCC EU certificate.
How does international sustainability & carbon certification work?
Working in accordance with ISCC certification supports compliance with strict social, environmental, and quality standards. This helps reduce negative environmental impacts. To obtain an ISCC certificate, every link in the supply chain must meet the required criteria.
Why is ISCC certification important for sustainability?
Sustainability certification is a crucial step in ensuring the integrity of sustainable production processes. The ISCC certificate enables companies to solidify their sustainability claims and provide transparency in their supply chain. Obtaining an ISCC certificate confirms that a company meets the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility. Advantages of the ISCC certificate
An ISCC certification provides many advantages for companies that work in the biofuel, biomass and renewable raw materials sectors.
ISCC certificates via DEKRA
- ISCC EU (renewable energy): The basic version of the ISCC certification programme. By certifying your organization against ISCC EU it meets the European guidelines for renewable energy and sustainability.
- ISCC PLUS (chemical): This ISCC certificate applies to the bio-economy and circular economy for food, feed, chemicals, plastics and packaging.
- ISCC CORSIA (aviation): This ISCC certification specifically applies to the aviation sector. ISCC CORSIA focuses on assuring the sustainability of biofuels that are used for compensating CO2 emissions.
- ISCC CORSIA PLUS: ISCC CORSIA and ISCC CORSIA PLUS are in fact two versions of the same ISCC certification standard. The difference is only in the scope of sustainability requirements for biomass production that the two standard versions cover. In fact, ISCC CORSIA PLUS covers a more comprehensive set of sustainability criteria, including social criteria and more.
Our working method for ISCC certification
To obtain an ISCC certificate, your organization must comply with its applicable scope requirements. The scope is defined by your business activities. Using a checklist and implementation documents, you can assess whether you meet the scope’s requirements. DEKRA will then evaluate your organization. If you meet the requirements, you will receive the ISCC certificate. DEKRA conducts annual audits to maintain the certificate.
Why arrange ISCC certification through DEKRA?
As an independent organization with a global presence, DEKRA conducts impartial and thorough assessments to verify your organization’s compliance with ISCC certification standards. With decades of experience in certification and sustainability, we ensure that the ISCC certification process is carried out with the highest level of integrity, accuracy, and transparency. This guarantees a fair, objective, and reliable evaluation that is recognized worldwide.
