Why DEKRA for battery testing?
EU Battery Regulation
The EU Battery Regulation sets stricter requirements for sustainability, safety and performance across all battery types, including EV and energy storage batteries. It introduces carbon footprint limits, hazardous substance restrictions and higher recycling targets. A digital battery passport will be mandatory for certain batteries from February 18, 2027, ensuring better transparency and traceability. The regulation follows a phased rollout, impacting the entire battery value chain until 2036.
