Validate the performance of your batteries with IEC 62620

IEC 62620 certification

Testing battery performance for IEC 62620 compliance

In the rapidly growing industrial battery market, stricter performance standards are increasingly required, stemming from sector agreements. The IEC 62620 standard is one of these performance standards. DEKRA tests and certifies (CB certification) according to the IEC 62620 standard to ensure battery performance. Often, this test is conducted in conjunction with other safety standards such as IEC 62619 or IEC 62133-2.

What is IEC 62620?

IEC 62620 specifies requirements, tests, and markings for secondary lithium cells and batteries applied in the industrial sector. Stationary applications, including emergency lighting, alarm systems, and communication systems, also fall within the scope of the IEC 62620 standard. This norm is applied to validate the performance of batteries in the industrial sector, ranging from cells, modules to systems. Batteries must perform optimally under various (climatic) conditions.

What are the benefits of IEC 62620 certification?

  • IEC 62620 ensures compliance with international performance and safety standards, which is crucial in fostering trust among global clients and partners.
  • IEC 62620 certification provides manufacturers with a competitive edge by demonstrating adherence to a recognized benchmark, thus enhancing their marketability.
  • Certified batteries are perceived as reliable and robust, especially under various operational and climatic conditions.
  • The IEC 62620 certification process can identify potential design flaws or performance issues early, allowing manufacturers to optimize battery design and production processes.
