Emergency Lighting Testing
When illumination matters the most
Emergency lighting is an essential component of safety in a building. Naturally, the lighting must comply with the applicable requirements to be allowed on the market. These requirements are outlined in EN 60598-1. Additionally, certain lighting fixtures have specific requirements. The European standard applicable to emergency lighting fixtures is EN 60598-2-22. DEKRA is accredited to certify emergency lighting against this standard.
Our experts are here to assist you in swiftly and correctly bringing your lighting to the market. Even if you have developed a new innovative product for which there is no existing standard, we are eager to collaborate with you. We possess expertise in all types of lighting and fixtures.
Standards and certifications for emergency lighting
- EN 60598-2-22In the field of emergency lighting, there are various standards against which we test and certify. EN 60598-2-22 has two variants that DEKRA can test:- Self-contained emergency lighting
This emergency lighting is connected to the regular power supply. In case of emergency, the lighting switches to the battery contained within the fixture. Each luminaire has its own power source.- Centrally supplied emergency lighting
This emergency lighting does not have a battery but is centrally powered by a system that controls all emergency lighting. - ENECWe can also issue an ENEC certification for the battery of self-contained emergency lighting. This certification is exclusively for the battery and not for the fixture itself. At present, ENEC certification is not mandatory.
- EN 61347-2-13In addition to EN 60598-2-22, there is a specific standard for the LED driver of emergency lighting for which we are accredited: EN 61347-2-13.
- EN50171We certify Central Power Supply (CPS) systems, the systems that control emergency lighting, against the EN 50171 standard.
