Objective assessment of data under ETS-2
Since 2024, the European Emissions Trading System has been extended to road transport, the built environment, and other sectors covered by the new regulations. This expansion, known as ETS-2, requires fuel suppliers and other parties involved to purchase emission allowances for end-user emissions starting in 2027.
ETS-2 targets sectors that have so far fallen outside the European Emissions Trading System. Suppliers of fuels for transport and buildings are thereby given direct responsibility for the COâ‚‚ emissions caused by the use of their products. The aim is to involve more sectors in achieving climate targets and to encourage sustainable solutions.
For organizations falling under ETS-2, specific obligations apply regarding the monitoring, reporting, and verification of emissions. As a verification body, DEKRA will carry out independent verifications of data covered by this system. DEKRA’s accreditation process is underway, and once completed, we will be able to perform these verifications.
