Partnership DEKRA and Easee

DEKRA and Easee: Strengthening compliance and cybersecurity in EV charging infrastructure

Compliance and cybersecurity are becoming increasingly critical as EV charging infrastructure scales across Europe. To meet these requirements and ensure long-term product safety and regulatory alignment, Easee partnered with DEKRA in 2025 to enhance product safety and comply with new EU cybersecurity regulations. What started as a single compliance project has since evolved into a long-term partnership built on transparency, expertise and mutual respect.

Setting a new standard in EV charging

Together with its customers, Easee is driving effortless electrification across Europe. The Norwegian technology company has sold over 1 million EV chargers across Europe to date.
Quality and reliability are key in everything at Easee, from design to production. The chargers are also designed to offer ease of use – with safety and compliance at their core. “We want to help raise the standard in the EV charging industry – not only by making charging simple and accessible, but by being transparent about how our products perform so that customers can make informed choices,” says Anthony Fernandez, CEO at Easee.
As part of its continuous compliance work related to applicable European safety and regulatory requirements for EV charging systems, Easee reached out to DEKRA for independent evaluation and expert support.

Compliance with latest EU requirements

“We required a thorough, professional third-party evaluation of our systems to ensure compliance with the latest EU requirements – critical for maintaining both product safety and market access ,” states Fernandez. “Working with independent experts like DEKRA helps us validate our technology and strengthen the internal processes that keep our products safe.”
Following product adaptations and technical improvements, DEKRA confirmed that the identified issues had been addressed and that the solutions met the relevant requirements, supporting Easee’s continued development and market readiness.

Cybersecurity evaluation

As the partnership intensified, DEKRA’s team conducted a full independent evaluation of Easee’s product range under the EN 18031 and Radio Equipment Directive (RED) 3.3 , which came into effect in August 2025. These requirements apply to all manufacturers, importers and distributors of wireless connected devices in the EU – setting a higher standard for cybersecurity and therefore strengthening consumer confidence.
The testing and reporting phase took around two months and resulted in a detailed, actionable report. Easee describes the relationship as both structured and supportive, with open dialogue and mutual respect throughout the process.
“The collaboration was efficient and professional throughout, with clear communication and quick turnaround,” confirms Fernandez. “Having a dedicated point of contact made communication seamless and helped us make well-informed decisions quickly,” he adds.

Faster decision-making and enhanced internal processes

Partnering with DEKRA also gave Easee new perspectives on how external verification can further enhance internal processes. “The insights we gained helped us refine our own quality assurance routines and strengthen our documentation practices,” comments Fernandez.
This reflects the company’s ambition to continuously improve documentation, testing and product validation to meet evolving European requirements. As a result of the collaboration with DEKRA, Easee has been able to accelerate internal decision-making while maintaining the same high standards of safety and precision.

Shared commitment to raising standards

Both Easee and DEKRA share a long-term commitment to raising industry standards for safety, reliability and cybersecurity – ensuring that the transition to electrification remains simple, secure and effortless for everyone.
“Easee’s solutions are instrumental in advancing sustainability and electrification, reducing reliance on fossil fuels and driving the transition to a greener future. We deeply value companies like Easee for their unwavering commitment to product safety and their dedication to innovation and compliance at the highest standards. At DEKRA, we believe that openness and trust are the cornerstones of any successful long-term partnership. This philosophy has been exemplified in our collaboration with Easee, where mutual respect and shared goals have enabled us to provide tailored support and apply our full expertise across safety, EMC , RF , interoperability, cybersecurity , grid codes, and global market access . Together, we are not only addressing today’s challenges but also shaping the future of safe and sustainable electrification.”
For Easee, the compliance evaluations marked the beginning of a broader and ongoing collaboration with DEKRA. “We now have several projects underway together, which reflects the growing scope of our partnership,” concludes Anthony Fernandez. “DEKRA is a trusted partner that gives us the assurance we need to keep moving forward with confidence.”
