ENEC-ERS 001 certificate for emergency lighting batteries
DEKRA awards first ENEC-ERS 001 certificate to Tridonic
International Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) organization DEKRA Certification B.V. has awarded an ENEC certificate according to ERS 001 to Tridonic for their batteries for emergency lighting. Tridonic is the first manufacturer to receive ENEC for this product category.
Certificate:
ENEC-001
Emergency lighting
must always operate, especially during a power outage. ENEC therefore checks, among other things:
- The battery’s lifespan and capacity
- Performance at different temperatures
- Charging and discharging behaviour
- Protection against overcharging and deep discharge
The ENEC standard is an
ISO type 5 certification
. This means it involves not only a one-time product assessment, but also periodic quality controls on production processes, and testing of samples which are already on the market ('surveillance'). The same applies with
Tridonic
. With a type 5 certification, the manufacturer shows that they take extra steps to guarantee the safety and quality of their products. The certificate is only awarded after independent testing by an accredited test house, such as DEKRA.
The ENEC Requirement Sheet ERS 001 sets additional performance & safety requirements specifically for lithium-ion batteries and battery packs used in emergency lighting luminaires (under
standard EN IEC 60598‑2‑22
).
The
ENEC mark
is the solution for certifying batteries for emergency lighting. For further details about the certification process, please don’t hesitate to contact the
