DEKRA Certification’s testing laboratories are located at the IJsseloord business park in Arnhem. In these test labs, a wide variety of electrical products are tested for safety. From robot vacuum cleaners and condenser dryers to automotive lighting, and from industrial components to charging stations and batteries for electric cars. A DEKRA certification mark indicates that a device meets the applicable safety requirements, allowing a manufacturer to market it and enabling consumers to use the product with confidence.

The History of DEKRA Arnhem

Acquisition of KEMA Quality

Anyone familiar with the history of Arnhem is sure to remember the name KEMA. The Foundation for the Inspection of Electrical Materials (KEMA) was established in 1927. In 1931, the company introduced its own certification mark, which would appear on countless household appliances for many years to come: KEMA-KEUR.
KEMA Quality B.V. was founded in 1995 as a subsidiary of KEMA. This separate entity focused specifically on certification and quality assurance across various sectors, offering certifications for management systems (including ISO), individuals (certificates), and electrical products (including KEMA-KEUR). In 2009, DEKRA SE (Societas Europaea) acquired the subsidiary KEMA Quality B.V. As part of the global DEKRA organization, the new “DEKRA Certification” is committed to expanding its expertise in high-tech, as well as in the field of sustainability.

From washing machines to smartphones, and from electric bikes to the smart lighting in your living room, we use countless electronic devices every day that make life more enjoyable and easier. It is essential that we can use all these devices safely. Rapid technological development makes our work increasingly challenging. Whereas a device used to simply have to work, we’ve now come to expect our devices to work together. Think, for example, of the smartphone you use to control the lights in your home, or the solar panels that communicate with your home battery. More complex devices come with different safety requirements. The DEKRA lab is therefore fully equipped to examine all these aspects.
DEKRA Audit
DEKRA Audit: Certifying Systems and Personnel
Companies like to tell their customers that they guarantee quality, work safely, or prioritize sustainability. But as a customer, how can you be sure that everything is in order? Companies can demonstrate this with a certificate. A DEKRA auditor visits companies to assess whether an organization operates in accordance with a specific standard, for example, in the area of quality in healthcare or safety at a construction company. Are all the requirements of the standard met? If so, the company receives proof of this in the form of a certificate. In the Netherlands, certain professionals must be certified to perform specific work; this is known as personal certification. DEKRA Certification auditors are also trained for this purpose.
