DEKRA Rail transfers to CERTIFER

DEKRA divests Rail Division

May 20, 2026

As of May 1, 2026, DEKRA's Rail division will transition to a new owner. The French company CERTIFER will take over the Dutch DEKRA Rail B.V. and the Taiwanese DEKRA Testing and Certification Co. Ltd.

CERTIFER is a French company with more than 25 years of experience dedicated to testing, inspection, and certification services as well as Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance services for all the guided mobility stakeholders.

Strategic Decision

The sale of the Rail division aligns with the strategic choices outlined in DEKRA's recently released Strategy 2030+. This strategy defines the markets in which the organization aims to grow in the coming years and the services that will take center stage. The Rail division has a brighter future as part of an organization fully focused on railway safety.

Activities to Continue with Trusted Expert Staff

The DEKRA Rail division employs approximately 70 highly qualified professionals. They will continue their testing, inspection, and certification activities as part of CERTIFER. The division holds key accreditations and serves international clients in the railway sector. In the Netherlands, Jean-Paul van Hengstum will remain as director of the Utrecht location, which will now operate as CERTIFER Netherlands B.V.
